Land Survey Intern
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Gains exposure to the day-to-day workings of a land survey team.
• Serves as a member of a land survey crew performing field work on civil engineering, construction, land surveying and geospatial projects.
• Operates and maintains instruments and equipment needed to complete land surveying tasks.
• Assists with taking field notes, collection of field data and related computations.
• Demonstrates safety practices and behaviors on project sites.
• Carries equipment and tools for long distances.
• Clears brush and small trees.
• Communicates using basic land surveying terminology.
• Controls traffic when working in or near roadways.
• Maintains, cleans and organizes land surveying vehicle and equipment.
• Reads and interprets construction plans and drawings.
• Performs work in many outdoor developed and natural environments.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licenses and Certifications
• Enrolled and pursuing Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geospatial, GIS, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Knowledge and Experience
• No experience necessary.
• General knowledge of math and trigonometry.

• Good hand writing and ability to sketch and document activities.

• Strong math skills and interest in mathematics.
• Strong work ethic and team-player attitude.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with longer hours while maintaining concentration in varying weather and site conditions.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work in other cities, including both urban and remote areas.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
