DevOps Intern

Where You Come In:  

KCF Technologies is seeking participants in many areas of study to contribute to our high-performing teams as part of the Future Innovators Internship Program. This 10-week, full-time paid program June 2 – August 8 will take place at our KCF Headquarters in-person, or remotely, depending on where home is for you. With our work from home, work from anywhere policy, the choice of where to work is yours.

Our home base is our headquarters in State College, PA, but you will find KCF Teammates spread across 27 different U.S. States with our flexible remote model. We give you the autonomy to define how and where you do your best work!

As a DevOps Intern you will have the opportunity to be an essential part of the team—working on projects of your own, assisting with larger Cloud Infrastructure initiatives, and collaborating across departments.  This is a great opportunity to learn about managing and supporting Cloud-hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Deploy and manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud resources.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform.
  • Manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Develop automation tools and scripts to boost Engineering productivity.
  • Interface with Engineering teams to provide infrastructure to support applications.
  • Update legacy infrastructure and servers to conform with current best practices.
  • Perform Linux system administration tasks.

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or other related degree program, entering their Junior or Senior year.
  • Successful completion of mid-level courses in Computer Programming.
  • Previous experience with AWS or another major cloud provider is a plus!
  • Familiarity with command line tools
  • Understanding of Linux system administration and Networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, Bash scripting, etc.)
  • Interest in cloud computing technology.
  • Able to study cloud provider documentation and source code to develop an understanding of the existing systems and tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to operate in a team environment with other DevOps and Software Engineers.
  • Strong organization and attention-to-detail.
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful and inventive
