Intern - Safety - Tell City, IN

SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform instrument calibration independently in the field.
  • Support all environmental, safety, and health programs as a constant advocate for safe working practices.
  • Assist with maintaining required regulatory records and documentation of IDEM, SHA, and OSHA.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. A valid driver’s license is required and they must be willing to work overtime in the field during the internship period, May to August.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must currently be pursuing a degree in safety, Environmental Science or a related field. Candidates with experience in Industrial Hygiene are preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.
