Power Platform Developer (Programmer Analyst III)

Fairfax County's Department of Information Technology is seeking a highly skilled Model-Driven Power Platform Developer to join our enterprise low-code application development team. Our team is dedicated to driving modernization efforts and delivering innovative business solutions through the development of Dynamics 365 applications and Model-Driven Power Applications using adaptive processes such as rapid application development.
As a key member of our centralized IT team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of application development, including design, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support. You will work closely with clients to understand their business requirements and translate these into effective application designs that prioritize user experience while leveraging the Microsoft ecosystem and other county platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and implement Model-Driven Power Apps and Dynamics 365 applications.
- Maintain and support applications, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Independently solve complex problems, demonstrating critical thinking and sound judgment in application design.
- Collaborate with clients to gather and analyze business requirements, ensuring solutions meet their needs.
- Work across various county disciplines and agencies to ensure the successful delivery of technical solutions.
- Design and validate technical architectures for solutions, including participating in code reviews.
- Ensure all solutions adhere to county development standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of software development principles, with proven experience in delivering software solutions.
- Proficiency in Model-Driven Apps, Canvas Apps, Power Pages, and Dynamics 365 offerings (e.g., Customer Service, Sales Applications).
- Ability to handle complex issues independently and provide sound recommendations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines and agencies.
- Experience in designing and validating technical architectures, ensuring they meet business requirements.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Information Systems, Computer Technology, Business, Economics, or related field, plus three years programming/analysis experience in a complex information systems environment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 3 years of related experience in developing Power Platform and Dynamics 365 Sales or Customer Service solutions,
- Experience configuring, and implementation of Power Apps, Power Automate, portals, and other CRM integration solution components, architecture, infrastructure, and tools, to include app registration.
- Strong hands-on development experience using App and Solution Checker, API connectors, Portal and dataverse integration and perform data migrations.
- Ability to develop technical specifications, conduct code reviews, diagnose, repair, resolve application problems, and automate/manage solutions.
- Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is essentially sedentary, performed in normal office environment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
