We are looking for an Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an Industrial Engineer Intern, you will work with manufacturing engineers and operations team members to identify waste in the production processes through Flow Analysis, Simulation and value Stream Mapping activities, and help drive improvements to sustainably enhance operational efficiency on existing and/or new product lines.
- Scope of responsibilities include supporting manufacturing activities and/or projects to improve processes within Repair & Overhaul (R&O) organization through the introduction of new technologies, implementation of lean manufacturing practices, and application of six sigma methodologies
- Specific tasks may include but not limited to time studies, capacity planning, labor standards, standard work implementation, data analysis and Value Stream Mapping activities
- Help design layouts of equipment and workspace and improving process flow
- Participate in and/or lead Kaizen events
- Assist with machine capacity analysis and identify/manage improvement initiatives to increase efficiency (OEE)
- Help develop methods to increase productivity, maximize efficiency and manage human capital more effectively
Skills and Experience:
- Working towards a B.S degree in one of the following areas: Industrial Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Engineering Management OR technical majors in related disciplines with transferable knowledge and experiences
- Demonstrated ability to be an active learner and a passion to work on exciting and meaningful operational challenges.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to collaborate and solve problems
- Ability to translate raw data into presentations and reports that can be socialized both internally and externally
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and principles for process improvement and reduction in variation.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, Catia, AutoCAD, Oracle, and PC-based systems is desired.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience with manufacturing industry
- Familiarity with data analytics and/or business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, Sisense etc.
- Exposure to SQL, Python.
