Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Corporate Communications Summer Intern. This temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position is at our Plain City, Ohio facility and reports to Terri Smith, Communications Specialist. 

 

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Corporate Communications Intern include, but are not limited to,

  • Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
  • Main responsibilities include production of Select Sires’ yearly breeding calendar and writing press releases and customer testimonials
  • Help coordinate trade show logistics and materials
  • Assist with desktop publishing projects, including advertisements, brochures and flyers
  • Perform clerical duties

A Corporate Communications Intern's work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A Corporate Communications Intern: 

  • Must have strong writing skills and be detail-oriented
  • Must have basic journalism and/or public relations knowledge; experience with desktop design is a must, knowledge of Associated Press Style is a plus

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES OF A Corporate Communications Intern: 

  • Major in communications, in dairy- and animal-science with a communications focus, or a related area of study
  • Familiarity with dairy cattle pedigrees

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A Corporate Communications Intern:

  • Students in their junior or senior year are preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A Corporate Communications Intern:

  • Seldomly (0-1 hours) floor lift (0-17"), knee lift (18" -29"), waist lift (30" -36"), chest lift (37" -60"), overhead lift (>60"), push/pull or carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Seldomly (0-1 hours) climb stairs, squat/kneel, crawl, twist or bend/stoop
  • Constantly (6-8 hours) sit or stand/walk
