Payroll and Finance Intern

Seeking students interested in gaining practical experience in finance, payroll processes, and administrative services.

  • Position: Finance / Payroll Intern
  • Duration: January 27, 2025 - August 8, 2025
  • Part time, working 15 – 29 hours/week
  • Location: Remote, based in Michigan (Eastern Time Zone)
  • Wage: $14/hour

The company is currently not authorized to support remote work employees in the following locations: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Delaware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming. 

The student internship program accepts international students with up-to-date work authorization for off-campus employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with mentor to maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data in the payroll system
  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department transfers
  • Performs required registrations with state governments for unemployment taxes, etc.
  • Supporting payroll taxes
  • Manage state tax accounts to ensure compliance with federal, local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Creating and pulling monthly, quarterly, and yearly data, when needed
  • Ensures all paperwork and electronic transactions are processed in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality
  • Create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and complete project research that supports the Finance Team
  • Enter vendor bills into accounting software
  • Update Automated Clearing House (ACH) payment tracker
  • Month end bank reconciliations
  • Month end accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliation
  • Recording monthly account analysis settlement charges
  • Following up with accounts payable vendors for invoices and making calls to confirm ACH info

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Interest in healthcare information technology as a career path.
  • Ability to effectively build rapport in a remote working environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the US and off-campus.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital tools like Zoom, JIRA, Confluence, HubSpot CRM, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.
