Your education is just the beginning – you’ll become an active member of our Corporate Information Security team located in Pittsburgh, PA. During our 12-week internship program, you’ll tackle real-world challenges through impactful assignments, and work alongside our industry changemakers.
The Intern – Cyber Security will rotate through the Corporate Information Security group to gain experience in Cyber Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cyber investigations, Vulnerability Management (VM) and Cyber Incident Response. Intern will receive a well-rounded cyber security experience.
Intern Impact Project: Endpoint Detection and Removable Media Configuration
The Intern – Cyber Security will pair with the Security Operations and Data Loss Protection Team for their summer project. This role will assist with the policy configuration for our security tools. The goal is to strengthen our security posture by add defense-in-depth with our security tools. The Corporate Cyber Security Intern will work closely with configuring removable media (USBs, hard drives, CDs, DVDs) rules. We are hoping for our intern to become comfortable with our security tools and learn about how to handle potential vulnerabilities.
The Corporate Cyber Security Intern will review ongoing cybersecurity incidents, alerts, investigations, and requests. The intern will be collaborating responses to these events and writing detailed technical reports. This project will allow for the Corporate Cyber Security Intern to learn the day-to-day operations of a cybersecurity analyst.

In addition to your impact project work, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Assist with digital investigation and forensic analysis
- Support maintenance of the company’s Data Protection Program
- Learn the industry standards, procedures, and technologies
- Review the logs and alerts for our security tools including SIEM, DLP, and EDR
- Interact with the other members of the Howmet Corporate Information Security team and learn the roles/responsibilities of all the team members
- Manage the removable media guidelines and support ongoing issues
- Work closely with the Ethics and Compliance team to review data loss protection policies and standards
- Use of Microsoft standard productivity platform applications for daily activities and interactions
Your Education, Skills, and Experience:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity with an expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
• Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
• Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Educations, Skills, and Experience:
• Previous internship in Information Technology with a global employer
• Project experience with security tools or procedures
• Ability to manage projects and working within team in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Compensation for this internship opportunity ranges between $20- $22 per hour. (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
A relocation stipend in the amount of $3,000 will be provided to students located 50+ miles from the physical location of the internship.
