Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, Automation Integration

Real World Responsibilities: 

During your time with us you will: 

  • Research and recommend Automated solutions for Pick and Place material handling applications   
  • Create CAD models detailing material packaging and fit 
  • Design end effectors and other part holding devices 
  • Participate in the installation and sequencing of machines, workstations, tools, and supplies to optimize the efficiency of the manufacturing process. 
  • Work within an industrial team to assemble, test and program automated devices or robots 
  • Work to integrate industrial robots or similar machines into a manufacturing operation 
  • Investigate and recommend visions systems to assist in the pick and place operation 
  • Prepare documentation for training and operation, and maintenance manuals for developed equipment. 
  • Study manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, assembly, and weld processes 
  • Gather and analyze process information including cycle times, measurements, test results, trends, etc., used for statistical process control, cost analysis, and planning.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position

Must haves: 

  • Currently pursuing an ABET accredited bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Technology Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or similar field or graduated within last two years 
  • Able to work full-time 40 hours per week for 3 to 6 months in Redmond, WA 
  • Comfortable working in a high-speed production environment  
  • Working knowledge of basic office programs (Excel, Project, Word, Etc) 

 

Nice to haves: 

  • Are adaptable, innovative, and proactive 
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks, Autocad or equivalent CAD programs.  
  • Working knowledge of Motion control devices 
  • Working knowledge of Industrial robot function 
  • Basic project planning experience and the ability to convert designs into project action plans.  
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical peers, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Technical writing skills sufficient to prepare product specifications, test, and process documentation.  
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints.  
  • Ability to conduct mathematical exercises using physics, algebra, analytic geometry, and statistical analysis.   
  • Ability to learn and perform within the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, and Total Quality Management. 
  • Ambulatory ability to walk and stand continuously, to bend, stoop, and kneel intermittently, and to lift medium weight objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.  

 

The compensation for this position is $26/hr for undergraduate interns and $28/hr for graduate or returning interns. This position is eligible for holiday pay.
