Immunology & Respiratory - Intern

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join the Immunology & Respiratory department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will assist the protein biomarker group in performing cellular and biochemical-based assays on samples obtained from healthy volunteers and patients with inflammatory and/or autoimmune disease for novel biomarker and pathway discovery.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct cellular and biochemical based in vitro assays using primary human cells.
  • Perform data analysis in a timely manner.
  • Document experiments and maintain electronic notebook.
  • Learn how to interpret results and apply insight to help guide further experiments.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university
  • Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of basic cellular biology.
  • Experience and background knowledge of ELISA.
  • Ability to analyze data generated during experiments.
  • Cell isolation methods.
  • Knowledge of immune cells is a plus.
  • Basic understanding and experience with PCR and TaqMan are a plus.

Compensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 - $33.00 USD commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
