Fundraising and Gift Planning Intern

Intern Role: Fundraising and Gift Planning Intern

Overview:
Motivated and Empowered Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist with Fundraising and Gift Planning efforts. This position will provide hands-on experience in donor relations, event planning, and campaign development. The intern will play a key role in supporting the organization’s fundraising initiatives, including donor engagement, gift processing, and planning for future campaigns.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Donor Research and Engagement:

  • Conduct research on potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating donor databases, ensuring accurate records of gifts, pledges, and communications.
  • Prepare donor engagement materials, including thank you letters, event invitations, and personalized correspondence.

Fundraising Campaign Support:

  • Support the development and execution of fundraising campaigns, including online, peer-to-peer, and direct mail initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the team to create promotional materials, social media posts, and emails that promote campaigns and engage donors.

Gift Planning:

  • Assist in researching and organizing potential gift planning opportunities, such as legacy giving, major gifts, and in-kind donations.
  • Help coordinate planned giving outreach efforts and communications to educate donors on long-term giving options.

Event Planning and Support:

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of fundraising events, including logistics, vendor relations, and event-day activities.
  • Support the preparation of event materials, manage guest lists, and help organize silent auctions, raffles, and other fundraising elements.

Grant Writing Assistance:

  • Assist in identifying grant opportunities and gathering information needed for grant proposals.
  • Draft sections of grant proposals, including narrative, budget, and impact statements, under the guidance of the fundraising team.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Track fundraising progress and generate reports on campaign performance and donor engagement metrics.
  • Assist in monitoring budgets for fundraising initiatives and events to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Collaboration with Team:

  • Work closely with the fundraising, marketing, and program teams to ensure alignment of fundraising efforts with the organization’s overall mission and goals.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new fundraising ideas and donor engagement strategies.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or a related field.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with donor management software (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in nonprofit work and a passion for making a positive impact.

Experience (Preferred):

  • Previous experience in fundraising, event planning, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies is beneficial.
