Schneider Electric has a new opportunity for a Summer 2025 Software Engineer Intern in Atlanta, GA. As an Industrial Automation Software Engineer Intern at Schneider Electric, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced engineering team to develop, test, and implement automation software solutions. You will play a crucial role in the design and maintenance of control systems, HMI (Human Machine Interface), PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in the field of industrial automation while contributing to real-world projects.
What will you do?
- Assist in SCADA System Development: Collaborate with the SCADA software engineering team to design, develop, and maintain SCADA systems and related software applications.
- Programming and Scripting: Write, test, and debug code in languages such as C#, .NET, Java, Python, or other relevant languages for SCADA system components.
- Data Integration: Work on data integration tasks, ensuring that data from various sources is collected, processed, and displayed accurately in the SCADA system.
- Troubleshooting and Debugging: Help identify and resolve software defects and operational issues in the SCADA system.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for all software development activities, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Assist in testing new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet quality standards and performance requirements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, control systems engineers, and field technicians, to integrate software solutions into SCADA systems.
- Stay Informed: Keep up to date with the latest trends and emerging technologies in industrial automation.
Qualifications
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Education: Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages like C#, .NET, Java, Python, VbScript, or others as required.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
