Coupons & Deals Editorial Fellow

Business Insider is hiring a coupons fellow to join our Commerce team.

Business Insider is for people who are driven, optimistic and always looking forward. Our mission is to inspire action through thought-provoking stories. We tell our audience what they want and need to know to improve their lives and the world with storytelling that is accessible, smart, sometimes unexpected, and always helpful. Our team members embody and uphold Business Insider’s three core values: we are all one team, we are effective, and we strive to get better every day.

The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This paid role requires you to work for 40 hours a week and can be fully remote.

The Role & Team:

As a Coupons & Deals Editorial Fellow, you’ll play a key part in our team, writing new deal articles highlighting working coupons and promotions for some of the biggest retailers and popular brands across a wide range of categories like tech, home, pets, fashion, kitchen, streaming, mobile carriers, gifts, and more.

In addition to researching and writing these articles, you will have the opportunity to work with freelancers to help expand our coverage to prepare for the busiest shopping seasons of the year. You will also work with our partnerships team to help source new codes and exclusive deals for our readers.

You’ll learn how to strategize and plan an editorial calendar, with an emphasis on SEO and using data to make informed decisions. We’ll train you how to write news and grow evergreen content - valuable skills for any modern online journalist.

The ideal candidate has excellent writing, editing, and research skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, is focused and detail-oriented, is flexible, can quickly pivot when needed, and is passionate about helping our readers find the best, most reliable tested coupons. They are confident and careful when editing any article and can provide clear, actionable feedback to freelancers.

This role sits on the Commerce team. This role will be remote, with the option to come into our New York office.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Writing and editing commerce stories
  • Be knowledgeable about a range of retailer websites
  • Be efficient, energized, and have great judgment
