Job Description
The Global Safety & Environment Intern will provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and technical support to our global business partners related to Biosafety Center of Excellence (CoE) compliance programs.
Projects may include:
Maintaining support systems and programs to ensure employees can comply.
Participate in program simplification efforts, including change management to support the initiative.
Monitoring occurrence of biosafety-related incident reports, trending common factors and root causes.
Reviewing data and metrics about biosafety and uses database technology and tracking systems to generate reports regularly.
Assisting Biosafety Officers with any biosafety protocol review, training, and risk assessments.
Maintaining, reviewing, evaluating, and updating biosafety-related programs, manuals, guidelines, and associated web pages.
Assisting with the development and implementation of global biosafety program.
Continuing to improve the EHS Management System of sites and looking to leverage successful practices from sites globally.
Education:
Currently pursuing a Bachelors / Masters degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biomedical sciences, Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry or other technical degree.
Required:
Should have completed at least 2 years of college course work.
Must be able to work full time for a period of 9-12 weeks.
Critical thinking, project management, communication, problem solving and computer skills.
Ability to receive verbal or written direction and implement corresponding changes.
Ability to work both independently and with variety of roles and team members for different assignments.
Ability to think critically about process inefficiencies and propose solutions.
Experience researching scientific literature via the internet or technical article databases.
Preferred:
Knowledge of biosafety, EHS, biomedical sciences, immunology, microbiology, and/or biotechnology.
Prior internship or work experience in EHS field, biosafety, biomedical sciences, immunology, microbiology, and/or biotechnology.
Ability to communicate ideas and explain decisions in a clear and understandable manner.
Experience writing and reviewing operational procedures.
Travel is not required.

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00
