Geographic Information Systems Intern
Job Responsibilities:
- Collecting RCOC stormwater assets using the ESRI applications on tablets in the field with a partner
- Conducting QA/QC on stormwater assets in a Geodatabase
- Digitizing assets into existing or new geodatabase feature classes
- Conducting water quality sampling and environmental field inspections for the purpose of agency-wide compliance with state and federal environmental regulations
- Assist with environmental projects, such as good house-keeping inspections, spill response, illicit discharge investigations, wetland and stream inspections
- Downloading and processing data to a master database using ArcGIS
- Assisting in creation of maps, spreadsheets, and miscellaneous environmental research related to RCOCs MS4 Program, Threatened and Endangered species, and NEPA components of project-compliance
Skills Required:
- Available and able to work, Monday –Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with ESRI products, specifically ArcGIS Pro & Field Maps
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and conduct research on various topics without oversight
- Possess strong organizational skills and to complete all work in a timely manner
- Accuracy and attention to detail
Education/Certifications:
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a degree in Geographic Information Systems or Environmental Studies or related field.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid Driver’s License
