About BBH FX: Foreign Exchange Trading and Markets at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) specializes in providing operational and strategic FX solutions to global asset managers. Our offering includes automated FX trading solutions for security and corporate action related FX, currency hedging, and active execution. Our goal is to provide every client with an effective, transparent, and comprehensive FX program which is supported by dedicated relationship management and product teams.

About the Internship Program: BBH is currently recruiting for the Foreign Exchange Intern Program.  FX Interns will receive the training and support to develop a deep understanding of Foreign Exchange Trading and Markets, as well as of BBH’s expertise and offerings to its clients. Interns will be placed on a specific team within FX based on BBH business need, and intern skills and experience. Below is a list of possible placement teams and responsibilities.

  • Product Development – Support development by writing requirements, testing, and implementing new features and functionalities across our product suite.
  • E-Trading and Trading — Gain exposure to electronic market making and hedging, help to build pricing analytics, learn about the FX market and managing trading exposure.
  • Sales Trading/Relationship Management — Work hand in hand with our Sales Trading desk around the engagement of real money client base.
  • Emerging Markets — Help our clients navigate the foreign exchange complexities involved in investing restricted markets.
  • Currency Administration — Partner with our currency administration team to support our clients share class and portfolio hedging needs.
  • Data & Analytics – Proactively utilize and produce data visualizations, analytics, and TCA to identify client volume trends and opportunities for client discussions/enhancements.
  • Business Development — Assist in the identification and facilitation of sales opportunities and onboarding efforts across all FX products.
  • Onboarding — Facilitate new client onboards working closely with Legal, Risk and Compliance. 

The intern program is a 10-week position, based in the BBH New York office. It is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week. The intern program is intended for juniors in college, graduating in the spring of 2026.

While there are no guarantees of a job offer upon completion of an internship, BBH does view the internship program as a source of identifying future employees. As such, legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong academic performance.
  • Finance, economics, or mathematics/statistics major, or any major with a strong interest in financial markets
  • Relevant coursework in finance, economics, statistics, or computer science
  • Interest in financial markets – specifically international currency markets and the impact of economic and political factors
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, quantitative skills, and attention to detail
  • Proactive, motivated, and a fast learner who thinks strategically and creatively
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize competing demands, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects and initiatives, and to follow these through to resolution
