The Quantitative Biosciences Biochemistry and Biophysics team at our Research & Development Division in South San Francisco is seeking a highly talented and motivated student to join our 12-week Future Talent internship program. In this role, the intern will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with experienced pharmaceutical industry scientists on the discovery of novel medicines. The intern will work with cutting-edge biophysical tools that are crucial for evaluating and characterizing preclinical molecules across different modalities and therapeutic areas. This position will provide hands-on experience in a laboratory setting and offer real-world exposure to state-of-the-art science using advanced tools and techniques.
The successful candidate will:
Learn about different biophysical tools used in drug discovery.
Execute biophysical assays to support compound characterization.
Evaluate and optimize assay technologies and methods.
Engage with industry-standard data analysis tools and record keeping, including electronic lab notebooks and analysis software.
Communicate data progress during internal meetings, deliver a verbal presentation at the completion of training, and participate in scientific exchange with our company’s scientists.

Required Education & Experience:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program in biophysics, biochemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline. Candidates with a completed bachelor’s degree are strongly preferred.
Candidates must be available to work full-time for 12 weeks beginning in May or June of 2025.
Candidates must have previous hands-on laboratory experience.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
An understanding of binding assays and hands-on experience with biophysical techniques.
A demonstrated record of strong academic achievement.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A keen interest in scientific exploration and drug discovery research.
Self-motivated and detail-orientated with excellent record keeping and organizational skills.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-functional, team-oriented environment.
Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00
