What you can expect in this position: Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, performs assigned tasks and/or projects related to the area-specific internship. The Research Internship focuses on learning how to analyze and interpret next-generation sequencing data. This internship provides the opportunity to learn more about quantitative approaches, and the use of advanced computer approaches in processing biological information. When will you work?
- This is a full-time, 40 hour per week internship, working Monday-Friday. The internship will begin on June 2nd. Our 10 - week summer internships are designed to provide hands-on, project-based experience in various areas of our business.

- Collaborate with people to analyze data generated within the lab.
- Attend VBRI seminars, educational series, and lab meeting.
- Meet with assigned Principle Investigator.
- Must be willing to be around research animals.
- Participate in cross functional CapStone Intern Project with report out to Executive Leadership.
- Maintains effective communication with internal and external stakeholder via email, phone and in person meetings.
- Participate and contribute to department meetings, execute on goals and objectives to deliver outstanding results.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
- Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
Education
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program in a related field of the internship required
Experience
- Completed a minimum of 2 years in college/university in a related field of study for the internship preferred
- Basic Microsoft Office skills preferred
- Basic computer programming skills and ability to work in a Unix environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication skills preferred
- Ability to be customer-focused and follow through on requests promptly preferred
- Strong organizational skills preferred
- Ability to quickly and accurately understand instructions and then work independently on assignments preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately preferred
- Demonstrates keen attention to detail preferred
