Description: The HR Intern provides quality HR compliance and administrative support on a part-time basis to The HR Team and employees of BWTS Bellwood. The intern will be responsible for delivering assistance and administrative support to HR Generalists and BWTS Staff on various projects.

Key Tasks:

  • Begins to develop a current knowledge of HR Laws and Regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the HR field.
  • Develops a working knowledge of HR information databases and searchable resources.
  • Keeps abreast of Document retention requirements; Organization of personnel files;

HR Administration

  • Track progress, deadlines, and priorities off projects
  • Prepare Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents
  • Proofread HR documents including audits, all-employee communications, and handbooks.
  • Refill paper in the printer, and copier. Refill any supplies; organize files
  • Assist with Payroll and SUB pay process

Manage Customer Satisfaction

  • Maintain a satisfied level of customer service with internal and external customers.
  • Properly handle employee requests through responsiveness, follow-up, and escalation.

Teamwork

  • Work proactively with team members.
  • Prioritize activities for the team’s best interest when working on joint projects.
  • Handle requests and brainstorm quality solutions or escalate the request to a more senior team member
  • Openly share new ideas and information with other team members.
  • Keep the HR team apprised to avoid surprises and disappointed employees

               

Education Requirements Include:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to reliably commute to our site in Bellwood, IL (not remote)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to correctly make decisions involving employee issues/ problems including when to escalate to a more senior department member
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail
