Underwriting Intern 2025


Job Description

Our summer Intern Program is a ten-week practical experience that offers you an opportunity to gain knowledge about Reliance Matrix's business, mission, and culture. The Internship program is designed to provide participants an experience in an extremely dynamic environment through collaboration and interaction with senior leadership, managers, cross-functional teams, and other interns. Outside of your specific ‘department focus’ for the internship, you will learn soft skills to help you succeed no matter which career path you take. 

 

Underwriting Specific Job Duties:

  • Support team to rate and propose all assigned “request for proposals” (RFP’s) to include but not limited to life, disability, voluntary products, dental and vision RFP’s.
  • Process “Decline to Quotes” (DTQ’s) and “Clear to Quotes” (CTQ’s) requests.
  • Make corrections/revisions (rerate) as required.
  • Supports team to evaluate coverage amounts, premium rates and experience rates on new and in-force business, which includes new business submissions, amendments to in-force plans and renewals.  Working together to determine an overall case position.
  • Following analysis and evaluation, partners with team to articulate decision rationale on case pricing.
  • Project team member on various projects within underwriting department which leads to more efficient operations and business sold/renewed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • Student pursuing at least a Bachelor's degree
  • Strong GPA
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Displays basic knowledge of excel, power point and other Microsoft office applications.
  • Work, community involvement, or voluntary experience (Insurance industry experience a plus)
  • A solid work ethic, positive attitude and desire to succeed
  • Motivation to gain experience in the insurance industry
