The Opportunity
The ideal candidate will work within Business Risk and controls in the Enterprise Chief Information Office to promote awareness and the overall effectiveness of IT risk and compliance management programs in the business. This role will partner and collaborate with business and control partners to support Risk and compliance-based initiatives.
Responsible for supporting business leader adherence to the established Risk framework and ongoing governance of business processes, risks, controls and strengthening of the overall control environment.
Over the course of the internship, IT System Analyst Interns will have the opportunity to develop the critical thinking, technical, and communication skills necessary to become a successful risk management professional. Interns will get an in-depth look into IT Risk Management and the key drivers, trends, and challenges facing the technology industry overall.

The internship is based at USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.
What you'll do:
Our Risk IT Systems Analyst Interns, work under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and guidance, perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members, including the following tasks:
- Under direct supervision learns and applies basic knowledge of simple IT delivery functions and their supporting business functions to include processes, services and technology solutions.
- Under direct supervision participates in the analysis and design of technology solutions supporting simple IT delivery functions to ensure their business needs are met.
- Under direct supervision participates in communications with customers on the analysis of business needs and requirements to deliver solution artifacts as needed.
- Participates in the gathering of technical requirements using interviews, workshops, surveys, process analysis, use case scenarios, task inquiry and workflow analyses.
- Participates in the implementation and ongoing sustainment of technology solutions.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you need to have:
To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2025 internship will start on May 28, 2025 and last through August 8, 2025.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Cyber Security, IT Management, Economics, Engineering, or relevant degree.
- Graduation date cannot be prior to August 08, 2025
- Up to 2 years of related experience and accountability for executing projects related to process improvements, business requirements, technology solutions, or supporting activities.
- Foundational knowledge of the targeted IT functions and demonstrated application of the basic knowledge, skills and abilities needed to provide their support.
- Foundational level of business acumen, with exposure to industry practices and emerging trends in the areas related to the targeted IT delivery functions.
What sets you apart:
- Programming experience using SQL, SAS, R or Python to gather, manipulate, and aggregate data
- Experience using Excel Pivot Tables or other advanced methods to analyze large data sets
- Prior analytical-based internship experience
- Graduation date between August 2025 and July 2026

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location. The range for this position is: $23 - $34.
Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
