The Position: We’re looking for an External Logistics Intern.
Candidate will bring their strong understanding in supply chain to provide assistance in all areas of Comau Logistics. They will get a crash course in the complexity and roadblocks associated with providing custom engineered to order solutions to our customers. The intern will assist in coordinating and optimizing the transport of goods, ensuring efficient delivery processes, and supporting the Logistics team in maintaining strong relationships with external shipping partners. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in global logistics, domestic transportation, and supply chain management.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related fields.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to multitask and adhere to tight deadlines
- Interest in industrial automation and global logistics is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating shipments with external logistics providers
- Track and monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery
- Support in resolving shipping issues, such as delays or damages.
- Maintain accurate records of shipment, including customs documentation
- Organize and process freight and customs invoices to ensure timely payment
The Location: This position will be hybrid, office located in Southfield, MI

They will spend time with each of the main areas of the department providing useful assistance across a variety of areas, including:
- Process diagrams & flow chart development
- Customs broker processing
- Domestic transportation booking & invoicing
- Packaging guidelines development
- Material flow analysis
Once the candidate has a broader understanding of Comau’s value chain and has completed a rotation across logistics functions, they will work with the department manager to focus on an area of self-study with the intent of presenting opportunities for improvement to management.
