DHL currently has an exciting opportunity available for an Intern of Industrial Engineering + Coding as part of the Gateways Operation for Americas team.

 

The Intern of Industrial Engineering + Coding, analyzes and reports critical data for the Operation of Gateways across the Americas Region, also developing new automated reports and tools to support process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stablish short term tactical measures and mid term strategy to increase hub/station function productivity and service.
  • Lead optimization of facility, vehicle, staffing and/or material handling equipment in order to improve cost, utilization, service, and efficiencies
  • Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization
  • Contribute to the development of budgets and forecasts
  • Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow by analyzing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules
  • Recommends methods for improving the utilization of production facilities and personnel by restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow understand corporate strategy and implementing within the area
  • Prepares KPIs, budgets and projections for Operations
  • Evaluates performance, cost factors; recommends changes, as well as time and motion, work standards, work methods, personnel utilization, service, and quality
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental reporting systems
  • Provides guidance pertaining to staffing and methods
  • Assumes project management responsibilities as necessary

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Engineering or Computer science
  • Able to code. Notions of SQL, python… are highly desirable.
