Overview:
The Touched by Type 1 Internship Program is designed to provide students and young professionals with hands-on experience in nonprofit management, diabetes education, and community engagement. Interns will gain valuable skills while contributing to our mission: elevate awareness of type 1 diabetes, raise funds to find a cure, and inspire those with diabetes to thrive.

Program Objectives:

• To offer interns a comprehensive understanding of the operations of a nonprofit organization.
• To provide real-world experience in program management, fundraising, event planning, and diabetes advocacy.
• To develop professional skills in communication, project management, and teamwork.
• To engage interns in meaningful projects that directly impact the diabetes community.

Internship Details:

• Duration: Internships are available for fall, spring, and summer semesters, lasting 10-12 weeks.
• Location: Interns may work remotely or at our Altamonte office.
• Hours: 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility based on the intern's academic schedule.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship at $15 per hour. Touched by Type 1 will assist with academic credit requirements where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Support:

• Assist in the planning and execution of Touched by Type 1 events such as the Annual Conference, Fall Dance Program, and Golfing Fore Diabetes.
• Support the management and distribution of the D-Box Program.
• Help with the coordination of the Type 1 at School program, including communication with schools and educators.

Fundraising & Development:

• Contribute to grant writing efforts, donor outreach, and fundraising campaigns.
• Research potential grant opportunities and partnerships that align with Touched by Type 1’s mission.
• Assist with donor engagement activities, including donor appreciation and stewardship.

Marketing & Communications:

• Assist in creating content for social media platforms, newsletters, and the website.
• Help promote Touched by Type 1 events and initiatives through various communication channels.
• Contribute to building awareness campaigns for type 1 diabetes.

Community Engagement:

• Participate in outreach efforts to engage with volunteers, program participants, and community partners.
• Support the development of materials for outreach programs, such as educational tools for schools and caregivers.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Passion for making a difference in the diabetes community.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and communication tools.
