Mechanical Engineering Intern

Position Overview:

Novelis in Guthrie, KY has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2025 internship. The team is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience. The intern will report to the Engineering Leader and will gain experience with our local engineering team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Learn about industrial machinery, mechanical power transmission systems, and pumping systems.
  • Provide support for various Mechanical or Reliability Engineering Projects.
  • Perform Engineering drawing modifications.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment including aluminum rolling lines, mobile equipment, and furnaces.
  • Work under the supervision of staff engineers to implement the latest reliability and maintenance standards to equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate. 
  • Interested in gaining hands-on industry experience prior to graduation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills which are essential for interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prefer students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Familiar with MS Office and AutoCAD products.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
