Digital Archivist Intern


Job Description

The JM Family College Internship program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. As part of this program, you will actively contribute to your team’s success, learn about JM Family’s companies and culture while obtaining new skills through learning opportunities, networking events and much more.

 

The ideal candidate will be available to work full time hours during the Summer Internship Program (May 27, 2025 - August 1, 2025).

 

Interns will engage in meaningful work and gain insights into specific projects or tasks, providing hands-on experience, and contributing to various department initiatives. They will learn about JM Family’s culture including our core values: Consideration, Cooperation, Communication, Innovation and Accountability. These core values are part of our keys to success and the skills that embody these values are what drives our success as an organization.

 

This Digital Archivist Intern will be involved with projects and tasks that relate to Corporate Archives / Corporate Communications as well as enterprise projects and will provide opportunities for personal and professional development while working in a collaborative team environment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Processing and creating inventories of archival collections with preferred archival methods  

Rehousing, arranging and describing collection materials 

Using Adobe Photoshop to enhance digital images and create TIFF and JPEG files 

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro to convert legacy files into searchable resources 

Scanning documents or taking photographs 

Supporting the Corporate Communication team with projects as needed 

Interacting with clients of the Corporate Archives  

Creating metadata in the Corporate Archives database 

Completing assignments and reporting on progress  

Being able to research subject matter, plan and organize projects 

Assist with daily operations and tasks specific to the role 

 

Qualifications: 

This is a full-time, hybrid position, working 3 days in-person in the office and 2-days a week remote 

Ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a bachelor or graduate degree seeking program at an accredited college or university with a focus in Archival Management, Library or Informational Sciences, Museum Studies (qualified candidates actively enrolled for a degree in a related field will also be considered) and must have completed at least one semester of classes 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 

Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail 

Ability to work alone or in a group setting 

Able to lift 10 pounds 

Clear handwriting skills 

Excellent written communications and strong verbal communication skills to ask questions and to seek support from supervisor 

Strong organizational skills 

Strong interest in collections management, archives, and historic preservation
