Design and Manufacturing Engineer Intern

As a Design and Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will work closely with our Mechanical Engineers (ME) and Design Engineers (DE) to evaluate and improve existing processes and tooling designs. This internship offers a unique blend of office work and hands-on experience in the manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist ME and DE engineers in assessing and enhancing current processes and tooling designs.
  • Participate in the design of new tooling and processes to optimize workflow and part movement in the plant
  • Split your time between CAD workstations for design tasks and the manufacturing floor for implementation of your ideas
  • Work alongside toolroom toolmakers and machinists to learn about and execute the manufacturing of components for stamping dies
  • Exposure to manual operation and CNC equipment to gaining exposure in CAD and CAM programming software
  • Evaluate current processes, recommend improvements to automate processes and implement process improvements 
  • Work alongside MEs on robot programing, part inspection using cameras and other technologies
  • Inspection machine design, build and development while working with the engineering team

Job Requirements:

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is preferred
  • Interest in manufacturing processes and tooling design
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • This position requires moderate level of physical activity
  • Standing, walking, moving, and bending for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifting and moving up to 75 lbs
  • Must wear proper eye and ear protection in designated areas
  • Must wear proper OSHA approved work boots or shoes
