Chassis Development Engineer Intern
Position Overview and Objectives:
The main responsibility will be working in Chassis Development supporting senior/lead engineers on product development, and performance testing, performing basic analysis based on tests results, and working on virtual tools for simulation and postprocessing. Will also participate in simple technical problem-solving and recommend alternate solutions focusing on the usage of CAE tools, prepare a technical report for a senior engineer to review.
Responsibilities:
The intern will:
- Gain an understanding of automotive damper function and challenges;
- Gain an understating of simple problem-solving approach;
- Exposure to damper internal valving components and assembly;
- Exposure to instrumentation and data acquisition activities;
- Exposure to CAE tools for damper and vehicle simulation and post-processing data;
- Competence in technical report writing.
Qualifications:
- Be in the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and complete the first year of coursework.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8.
- Demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm for mechanical design and the automotive industry
- Experience coordinating and facilitating several small or one major projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Very good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently while providing proper direction.
- Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools, CAD (other to be added)
Additionally, the ability to work independently once direction is given, will be considered.
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Sitting and standing for extended periods of time in an office and industrial lab environment. Capable of lifting equipment and apparatus repetitively weighing between 25lbs to 30lbs.
Travel: Potentially visit customer or vehicle test sites, if needed.
Work Environment: In office at least 5 days a week, consistent with company policy.
