Electrical Engineering Intern

We are looking for summer interns, studying Electrical Engineering, to join our team.   
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Giffin Design, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering teams, assisting in paint finishing projects related to Process, Conveyor, and Robotic Automation controls.   

Typical Responsibilities
• Review and comprehend customer project specifications
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics, PLC logic, and HMI graphics
• Assist in control panel design and device component selection
• Determine equipment electrical utility requirements and provide power distribution solutions
• Assist with the design and integration of communication networks utilizing Ethernet IP
• Coordinate Process, Automation, and Conveyor Controls equipment interactions
• Participate with the development of the Plant IT equipment monitoring system
• Assist with the creation and resolution of Electrical & Controls installation deficiencies
• Assist with equipment commissioning activities
• Maintain ISO/QOS company documentation requirements
 

Requirements
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Ability to work 40 hours per week
• Completion of Sophomore year, minimum
• Interest in Manufacturing Engineering
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
 

Physical Requirements

• Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
• Willingness to travel to local project sites and vendor locations
• Must be physically able to walk long distances and traverse construction ground conditions utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
