Health Physicist Summer Intern

APS Palo Verde is looking for Health Physicist Summer Intern to join their team in Tonopah, AZ at the Palo Verde Generating Station.

The Health Physicist Summer Intern will have the opportunity to acquire broad experience in practicing and learning Radiation Safety and Operations, Radiological Effluent Monitoring, ALARA, Environmental, Dosimetry and Health Physics fundamentals in real work settings. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals within Radiation Protection and contribute to various projects.

 

Responsibilities are not limited to but may include the following:

Assist in monitoring and measuring radiation levels in various areas of the plant.

Participate in routine surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Performs radiological engineering analyses of data.

Analyze data related to radiation exposure and provide reports

Help maintain records of radiation measurements, safety training, and compliance activities.

Collaborate on special projects related to radiation safety and health physics research.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and license commitments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate program in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
