Responsibilities

Summary

The Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer Intern position will be located in Niles, Oh.  We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to join our team as an Engineer Summer Intern. This position will assist engineering and manufacturing in driving improvements in quality and delivery performance through process control and product improvement initiatives.

Intern Summer Project: Hand Injury Reduction Project

Each intern will pair with area Manager to identify a significant hand safety risk in their department. The intern will work with the department management to implement layers of protection that reduce the risk to acceptable levels. The intern will document the process and prepare a presentation for management on the project.

Daily Job Duties and Goals to be accomplished:

  • Industrial hygiene sampling
  • Industrial hygiene assessments
  • Injury and incident investigation
  • Fatality prevention audits
  • PPE assessments
  • Lockout tagout process improvements
  • Hand safety risk reduction projects and environmental sampling

Qualifications

Basic/Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree or master’s degree program in one of the following: Environmental Health & Safety Engineering, Environmental Science Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene.
  • Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Employees/Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seeking strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed or team environment.
  • Relevant internship/work/research experience preferred.
  • Project Management.
  • Comfortable with exposure to a manufacturing environment.
