About the Food Marketplace
We are launching a pioneering online food marketplace designed to bring unique, high-quality food products directly to consumers. Our goal is to have the marketplace fully operational by January 20, 2025, in preparation for a successful summer launch. This marketplace will serve as a major hub for food enthusiasts, suppliers, and producers, offering an extensive range of products that emphasize quality, variety, and innovation. To lead this ambitious project, we’re seeking two Co-CEO interns who can bring vision, drive, and hands-on leadership to ensure every detail of this venture is meticulously crafted and executed.
What We’re Looking For
We need two exceptional, results-oriented individuals with strong backgrounds in business operations, e-commerce, or project management. Ideal candidates are strategic thinkers and proactive problem solvers, capable of independently overseeing all facets of the marketplace’s development. This role is suited only for the top of the top—those who can take complete ownership of the project, drive rapid progress, and ensure all elements are ready for the launch by January 20, 2025. This is a high-intensity, high-reward opportunity.
Role Expectations & Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Execution
• Define and implement a comprehensive strategy to get the marketplace operational by January 20, 2025.
• Set clear goals and timelines for each phase of development, from website buildout to product sourcing and logistics.
• Work on contingency planning to address any potential setbacks quickly and ensure launch readiness.
2. Product Sourcing & Vendor Partnerships
• Identify, negotiate, and onboard food suppliers, artisans, and vendors who align with our marketplace’s vision of quality and uniqueness.
• Establish agreements with vendors, ensuring that the marketplace has a diverse and compelling selection of products at launch.
• Oversee the creation of detailed product listings that highlight quality, origin, and uniqueness.
3. Platform Development & User Experience
• Collaborate with web developers to ensure a user-friendly, functional, and visually appealing marketplace platform.
• Oversee platform features such as payment processing, order tracking, and customer support to ensure smooth operations.
• Test every aspect of the site for usability, functionality, and efficiency, ensuring an optimal experience for both customers and vendors.
4. Marketing & Pre-Launch Campaigns
• Develop and execute a pre-launch marketing strategy to build excitement and awareness, including email newsletters, social media, and influencer partnerships.
• Coordinate content creation, such as product spotlights and vendor stories, to build anticipation for the marketplace.
• Engage with potential customers on social media, collecting insights and feedback that can be incorporated into the marketplace.
5. Logistics & Order Fulfillment
• Design a reliable and cost-effective order fulfillment process that ensures products reach customers in excellent condition and within a competitive timeframe.
• Work with logistics providers to set up shipping options and rates, ensuring a streamlined, affordable delivery experience.
• Establish a system for tracking orders, managing returns, and handling customer service efficiently.
6. Revenue & Financial Management
• Set pricing structures, vendor commission rates, and financial targets that align with profitability goals.
• Track expenses, revenue streams, and financial performance to ensure budget adherence and optimize revenue potential.
• Explore additional revenue opportunities, such as featured vendor listings, premium memberships, and seasonal promotions.
7. Analytics & Performance Tracking
• Implement analytics tools to monitor key performance indicators such as traffic, conversions, average order value, and customer satisfaction.
• Generate regular reports on marketplace performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing the platform for peak performance.
• Adjust strategies based on data insights to maximize profitability and user engagement.
Requirements
• Proven experience in business management, e-commerce, or related fields.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
• Passion for the food industry and understanding of online marketplace dynamics.
