POSITION: Educational Interpreter for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Under general supervision, educational interpreters act as facilitators of communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and non-signing members of the school community. Take a look at our DHH experience through this video!
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A qualified interpreter certification as defined in the Michigan Compiled Laws and known as the Deaf Persons’ Interpreter Act who has been approved at EIPA Level, BEI Level or NIC.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the implementation of student’s IEP.
• Use the appropriate modality and language.
• Interpret at the appropriate language level of a student.
• Clearly convey all aspects of meaning and content.
• Make sure the goal if the lesson is clear.
• Make appropriate use of fingerspelling.
• Facilitate and support participation and social communication.
• Monitor student comprehension.
• Other duties as assigned.

TERMS: This position is a full time, non-union 200 day position. This position comes with full medical benefits. Dental, vision, and life paid by the district. Personal business days and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).
SALARY RANGE: Dependent on experience and education, grade G nonunion scale $18.43-24.26 per hour.
