Intern - Regulatory and Business Unit Accounting
MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance graduating later than August 2025. Regulatory & Business Unit Accounting interns will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy industry. Interns will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills learned through college and apply them to the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer.

Interns will have the opportunity to participate in the annual three-day summer intern event in Des Moines, Iowa where they will have the opportunity to tour state-of-the-art facilities, network with leadership, and gain a broader understanding of MidAmerican Energy Company. Other panels, lunch and learns, and events will be happening throughout the summer to give our interns the best experience.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Support accounting and finance area by assisting with various departmental projects and responsibilities.
Complete journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation. Maintain general ledger detail and complete monthly reconciliation of assigned activities.
Assist in preparation and review of monthly and quarterly reports.
Assist in preparation of account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and required documentation.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with data exchange tools and concepts.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines.
Qualifications
Must be a sophomore or higher currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in accounting or finance.
Must be available May-August 2025.
