Bell Labs Photonic Integration Intern

Position: Bell Labs Photonic Integration Intern

The team you'll be part of

This summer intern position is within the Opto-Electronic Integration Research Group at Bell Labs where we are pursuing research into complex photonic and electronic integration for future optical communications and novel photonic applications such as neural networks and quantum computation. There is a range of intern project roles focusing on aspects of photonic device design, fabrication, and testing.

 

Educational Recommendations

Currently a candidate for a PhD in Physics or a related engineering degree/ field with an accredited school in the US.

 

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

 

As part of our team, you will:

Participate in a broad range of aspects from conception to development, including design, simulations/modeling, fabrication, testing, and implementation of novel optoelectronic integration devices. 

The student will be encouraged to present research findings through oral presentations within the company, as well as generate publications for the leading conferences and journals in the field of photonics. 
 

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hands-on experience in the area of integrated photonics including silicon, silicon nitride, lithium niobate, and III-V integrated photonics.
  • Experience in design and optimization of photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
  • Experience in testing and characterization of optoelectronic devices and systems.
  • Experience in optoelectronic packaging and integration
