Environmental Planning Intern

Job Summary
Are you passionate about environmental planning? T.Y. Lin is looking for an Environmental Planning Intern to join our New York office for the Summer of 2025. As an intern on our City Solutions Team, you'll gain the opportunity to immerse yourself in a team that provides integrated approaches to support land use and infrastructure decisions, addressing environmental, social, and economic effects. We specialize in evaluating the impacts of land use and infrastructure projects, programs, and government policies. We are enthusiastic about our role in the environmental review process that allows informed public participation and enables decisionmakers to make a reasoned choice.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You Will Do
- Support planning analyses, including those associated with environmental review (e.g., NEPA, SEQRA, CEQR), climate action, equity, and Environmental Justice
- Collect and organize raw data, which may include research, interviews with government agencies, map reviews, field investigations
- Support graphics and reports
- Support air quality and noise modeling
- Support natural resources field work and assessment
- Support public involvement activities
What You Bring to the Team
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment
- Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior
- Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements
Your Education and Experience
- Working towards an Urban Planning, Environmental Science or Policy Undergraduate Degree or related Graduate Program
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
- Experience using GIS Mapping software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) is preferred
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and InDesign) is preferred\
