Retail Management Internship

Responsibilities
 

The Retail Management Intern will learn, understand, and perform the activities, roles, and responsibilities associated with the Blain’s Store Operations Retail Management Team. Assists with daily store functions and supports the store management team. Responsibilities include helping with inventory management, customer service, store maintenance, and implementing promotional activities. The intern gains hands-on experience in retail operations, learns about store management practices, and contributes to enhancing the overall customer experience.

 

Retail Management Internships may be available in the following locations: Janesville, WI; Belvidere, IL; Oak Creek, WI; Loves Park, IL; Rice Lake, WI; Chippewa Falls, WI; LaCrosse, WI; Grafton, WI; Bloomington, IL; Kankakee, IL; Cedar Falls, IA

  • Shadow, learn, assist, and support Store Management with the running of a Blain’s Farm and Fleet store.
  • Fulfill duties of various store level associate positions throughout the store.
  • Learn, become familiar, and participate within each store department and the responsibilities associated with each.
  • Perform morning walk-throughs of the entire store (salesfloor, service center, warehouse, outside lot).
  • Learn store HR processes and learn about the role of the Training Coordinator.
  • Learn and participate in the Pricing Team activities which include, ad prep, ad set, ad take-down, price changes, etc.
  • Learn and participate in store support activities which include merchandise receiving, inventory control, warehouse location, stocking, BOPUS, ecommerce ship-to, etc.
  • Learn, understand and help with paperwork, reports, and following store procedures.
  • Learn and assist with the associate interviewing process.
  • Communicate with store associates and management; attend store meetings.
  • Research and prepare an intern project on a topic determined by the Blain’s Corporate Store Operations Team. The final project will be presented to Blain’s Store Operations Team and Blain’s Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Loss Prevention and safety policies and/or procedures.
  • Follow Internship Timeline as designated in the Internship Orientation.


Qualifications
 

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, preferably in Business or a related field.
  • Be 12-18 months from Graduation from an accredited University or College
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Possess a valid driver's license
