2025 Summer Intern - Human Resources

Work Arrangement

Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

Acting as strategic partners, we provide the integrated processes to help talented people develop their capabilities and competencies to accomplish business objectives.  In addition, we contribute to the development and fulfilment of GM’s business plan and objectives. Our team consistently works with our partners to diagnose problems, plan and implement solutions, and evaluate results. We help optimize the talent of our GM team while actively building an inclusive culture to deliver our vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion. 

Internship Focus Areas:

Global Compensation and Benefits: An assignment in this Center of Excellence could include research and analysis in compensation, benefits, or HR policy. This role could also support in the creation and implementation of new initiatives as it pertains to our Total Compensation Package and Global Policies.

Global Talent: Intern assignments in the Global Talent Center of Excellence provide diverse exposure to research efforts in talent analytics, employee engagement, GM’s Workplace of Choice strategy, and leadership and employee development initiatives.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: A role in this team would partner with our various teams within DEI on initiatives like inclusive leadership coaching, affirmative action planning and governance, working with our employee resource groups and more as part of our journey to making GM the most inclusive company in the world.

Global Talent Acquisition: Interns in this Center of Excellence would assist in the development of strategy, training, and coordination of events for all recruitment related activity. Our Global Talent Acquisition team is committed to attracting the world's most innovative and diverse talent for GM.

Manufacturing Labor Relations: Assignments in this area would involve administrating local and national agreements; processing grievances, exercising conflict resolution skills, leading aspects of hourly employment, and coordinating initiatives to improve efficiencies. Interns would be responsible for promoting a positive working relationship with the Union through consistent application of local and national agreements. Interns would also support in the implementation of Competitive Manufacturing Systems.

HR Field: An assignment as a Human Resources Business Partner could include HR related project work for the assigned functional/staff/plant group; research and analysis of complex people issues and talent management; assisting in the resolution of employee relations issues; identification of process improvements and associated projects; facilitate HR Management meetings or trainings and assist with implementing change management and organizational development activities.

 

 

 

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Maser's degree in one of the following areas: Human Resources or related field

Graduates between December 2025 and June 2026

Able to work full-time - 40 hours per week during the summer months

Able to accommodate either a remote or on-site assignment (locations could include Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, New York and Tennessee)

Start dates for this internship role are May & June of 2025.

 

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $4,400-$5,200 monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.

GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
