RATE: $25-30/hr

POSITION SUMMARY
ACHP is launching an exciting strategic data initiative with its members, positioning the association as a leader in evidence-based policymaking. This one-year fellowship offers a unique opportunity to support ACHP in creating new analytics products and insights in the health care field. This fellowship provides a solid foundation for a career in product development and health care analytics. An ideal candidate should be entrepreneurial and have a background in data science or health care analytics who is detail-oriented, organized and eager to build solutions for complex datasets. The fellow will play a key role in daily product development, requiring strong organizational skills. A one-year commitment is required, with strong potential for full-time employment upon completion.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management (50%)
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track deadlines and ensure proper documentation of project progress.
- Assist with troubleshooting risks, opportunities and resource needs, providing proactive solutions to mitigate challenges in product development.
- Supporting work groups that consist of technical experts and executives from member companies.
Product Development Support (35%)
- Assist in developing ACHP’s Project Value products, collaborating closely with senior leaders and colleagues to ensure that deliverables meet high standards.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on the design, development, implementation and launch of new and existing analytic products.
- Monitor project timelines, track milestones and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Work with the Market Competitiveness team to analyze publicly available and member-reported datasets (e.g., CMS enrollment, CMS Star ratings CAHPS, HOS, HEDIS) to better understand quality, competitive managed care market landscape and business impacts.
Cross-functional Coordination (15%)
- Coordinate and communicate across ACHP teams, departments and external consultants to streamline product development and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Act as a liaison between the Product Manager and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth workflow, address queries and ensure timely project updates.
- Support ACHP’s focus on member engagement by identifying areas where analytics and data-driven approaches can enhance outcomes and efficiencies for ACHP member companies.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Required General Skills or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, economics, computer science or similar area of study.
- Confident and friendly verbal communication with a customer-focused mindset.
- Excellent judgment, quality assurance and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong quantitative abilities, including data visualization, proficiency in descriptive statistics, understanding of causative vs. associative relationships, and the ability to evaluate diverse data collection methods in analytics.
- Experience with analytical, statistical, database and data visualization software, including Excel, Python, SAS, SQL, and Tableau.
- Familiarity with data modeling, data structures or basic database design concepts.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Science or Public Health with a concentration in Health Data Analytics
- Project management knowledge or PMP certification is a plus, with familiarity in managing timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional collaboration
- Certification or experience in iterative product development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
- Data cleaning, data transformation, and working with large, complex datasets.
- Familiarity working in cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud
- Understanding of business intelligence concepts and tools, such as data warehousing, ETL processes, and experience with related platforms r.
- 1-2 years of relevant health care experience or quantitative analysis using data sources, including HEDIS, CAHPS and CMS Medicare Advantage Star Ratings and Enrollment Data files.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work is in an office environment, unless altered by CEO or Vice President of Operations
- May be occasionally required to stand, walk or reach with arms
