Stormwater Program Intern
Distinguishing Features of the Class
Performs field investigations/inspections of stormwater infrastructure and completes reporting/analysis of stormwater data.
120-Day assignment working up to 40 hours weekly depending on available work. Typical employment duration is 4 consecutive months.
Acceptable Experience and Training
- Completion of one (1) year in an Environmental Science, Engineering or related program with course work in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems, or Environmental Engineering;
- Or any other combination of experience and education that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work;
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS.

Required Special Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Iowa driver's license.

Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)
- Performs stormwater sampling and field analysis of stormwater outfalls at creeks and open water bodies;
- Completes construction runoff control inspections;
- Investigates illicit discharges;
- Updates GIS and stormwater permit data;
- Assists with stormwater permit compliance;
- Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification
