We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Civil Engineering Intern/Co-op
Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Civil Engineering intern or co-op to support the site development of our pilot and commercial scale production operations. This role offers hands-on experience in sustainable infrastructure development for cutting-edge battery recycling facilities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing site layouts, grading, paving, striping, and underground utility distribution drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D under the supervision of staff Civil professional engineers.
- Opportunity to assist staff Structural professional engineers with structural design of foundations, steel structures, and anchorage design.
- Conducting field reconnaissance, measuring, and documentation of existing conditions for incorporation into new brownfield and greenfield designs.
- Participating in project planning meetings and design reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Learning industry-standard documentation and compliance requirements for industrials facilities
Desired Qualifications
- Pursuing a B.S. in civil or structural engineering.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Prior engineering internship experience with a civil engineering design firm, public works department, or manufacturing company with internal EPC capabilities is preferred.
- Coursework and/or experience with geotechnical engineering, pavement design, hydrology, hydraulics, aerial photogrammetry, or surveying is preferred.
- Coursework and/or experience with foundation design, concrete design, steel design, and structural analysis is a bonus.
- Highly self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
This full-time paid position may be arranged as either an internship (12 weeks) or a Co-op (4-8 months), depending on the candidate.

- June 2nd, 2025
- June 23rd, 2025

The location of the internship is either in the Reno or Carson City, Nevada area (exact location is based on team placement). Interns are responsible for making their own housing and transportation arrangements. Please note that due to the location of our campuses, public transit options are limited, and the use of a personal or rented vehicle is recommended.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
