Role Description
We are seeking a motivated Data Engineering Intern to join our growing analytics team. As an intern, you will assist in expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture while supporting cross-functional teams. You will work closely with experienced data engineers to develop and optimize data systems from the ground up. This role requires self-direction and the ability to support the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to optimizing our company's data architecture in preparation for our next generation of advanced cruise control products.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
• Holding a Bachelors degree and current enrollment in a relevant degree program (Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields).
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the automotive industry.
• Familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization systems such as MicroStrategy, Microsoft Power BI, Google Data Studio, or Tableau.
• Exposure to cloud database tools like Azure SQL Database and Azure Synapse.
• Basic SQL writing skills and understanding of Data Lake and Data Warehousing concepts, including data modeling.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps and familiarity with agile methodologies is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with unstructured datasets.
• Interest in building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
• Willingness to assist in root cause analysis of internal and external data and processes to address specific business questions and identify improvement opportunities.
• Basic understanding of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable 'big data' data stores.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work on data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
• Familiarity with data manipulation, processing, and extraction from disconnected datasets.
• Collaboration with senior stakeholders in marketing, business, and sales to optimize core business and website performance KPIs.
• Basic project management and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience or coursework in ETL, Data Engineering, or BI fields with a focus on data transformations.
• Familiarity with Data Visualization standard methodologies.
• Progress towards a master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Prior exposure to mining data from various sensing sources involved in automated driving, such as RADAR, cameras, LIDAR, IMU, GPS, High-Definition maps, among others.
• Familiarity with automotive data networks, including CAN, LIN, and FlexRay.
• Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a similar quantitative field.
