Accessories Product Management Engineering Intern

ABOUT Slate

  • Slate is looking for an upbeat, organized, and innovative Product Manager Intern- Accessories to join our growing team. Slate is a new company exploring development in the electric vehicle space. This role focuses on the Product Management of Physical Products. Reporting directly to the Head of Accessories Product Management, you play a major role in bringing products to life. This role is available for the Summer 2025 Semester (May to August) in Troy, MI.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.  We are unable to financially sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for this opportunity currently.

Who we are looking for:

  • Someone who is eager to get your feet wet in the Product Management world!
  • Your primary responsibility is to learn how to translate customer needs into useful products that foster deep brand connections through personalization.
  • As a product manager intern, you will learn and support driving the end-to-end product lifecycle from research and concept, including collaborating with external companies on personalization.
  • This includes supporting the team by conducting market research, benchmarking, and generating/maintaining business cases for product opportunities.
  • We want someone who gets excited about learning how to solve problems and wants to experience working with cross-functional team members and the supply base to turn them into product solutions.

Basic Qualifications/Skills

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's Degree Program with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Organization and Project Management - Flexibility to adjust and work competently in a dynamic and changing environment while understanding calendar deliverables with strong attention to details.
  • Professionalism and Confidentiality - An ability to be an effective brand representative and ambassador to the Slate community, both presenting the Slate vision and collecting input that leads to future accessories' development.
  • Analytical Problem Solver - Possess critical thinking skills to extract, analyze, and synthesize data 
  • Creative Thinker - Seek creative methods to help develop strategies and improvements for product features and requirements 
  • Self-Starter and Collaborative Mindset - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Takes Initiative, Asks Questions, and Communicates New Ideas.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Education & Experience

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college or university.
  • Past work experience in relevant or adjacent areas is a plus.

Work Environment / Expectations

  • Full Time (Non-Semester) | Part Time Availability during Semester
    • Core Hours: 8am – 4pm PST
  • Hybrid in Troy, MI
  • Paid Internship
  • Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship during the internship period
