We are currently seeking a bright, ambitious, and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team for a summer internship.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an intern with an interest in information technology/computer science to work with the Systems Development/technology team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about finance and technology to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. The right candidate will have an opportunity to actively participate in custom systems changes, automation processes, OMS changes, data warehouse governance, reporting, etc.
Sona is also keen to support the learning experience of its interns and will provide multiple opportunities for direct engagement with our investment professionals. You will work directly with our investment professionals, who can guide you and provide feedback and pointers on project work, as well as provide insights into what we do, and the wider market. There will also be opportunities for networking, joining knowledge sharing sessions, and a structured training programme to introduce some of the common concepts and activities within investment to provide broader insight.
The salary for this role is $70,000 and pro rata for the 10 weeks.
Candidate requirements
- Currently enrolled in final year of a university program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, or other related technical majors.
- Interest in the finance industry and technology
- Required skills:
- Competency in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, SQL, React, Angular, or C#)
- Experience in object-oriented development, good comprehension of data structures, algorithms.
- Strong database and scripting skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Desirable skills: Cloud systems engineering/administration, experience with Microsoft Office Suite, release and change management experience, Experience with Azure Functions, Amazon Web Services
