This posting is for a part time Staff Development & Training Intern (Summer 2025) with Juvenile Justice. This Internship is expected to start on May 19, 2025 and last for 10 weeks, ending on July 25, 2025. The work schedule is part time, up to 30 hours per week Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour.

This internship will involve development of a in-service training course to include a lesson plan and supplemental learning materials. Subject matter will focus on an emerging topic within the juvenile justice field. The training will be targeted for entry level and tenured juvenile justice employees as well as local and state community partners.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conducting independent research on various topics
  • Interpreting General Statues, Administrative Code, Policies and Procedures and its application in meeting desired outcomes
  • Facilitating multiple aspects of project management for developing an adult learning course
  • Trouble-shooting and problem-solving a range of issues related to the development of training curricula for diverse work groups, specifically for adult learners.


The intern will be expected to travel to designated training facilities and other locations for observation of Juvenile Justice operations. 

As a result of this internship, you will have:

  • Increased knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System in North Carolina
  • Increased knowledge and understanding of the various Sections within the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
  • Practical skills development in project management and curriculum development
