Industrial Engineer Summer Intern

The USPS’s "Summer Intern Program" - Operations Industrial Engineer (IE) Intern will work on an industrial engineering project to improve service, cost performance, mail processing or other related operation during the 10–12-week internship assignment. This project will entail the use of industrial engineering and continuous improvement principles that may include the collection and analysis of data, evaluation of new equipment, methods and processes, and utilization of computer aided design software and tools. At the culmination of the internship, you will present project results to management.

These projects will provide individuals with the opportunity to gain real work experience that will be applicable towards their major, as well as their career. You will be expected to provide meaningful input and support the project assignment to completion.

To be eligible for this program, applicants must be pursuing a degree or currently in a field of study related to this vacancy, and enrolled in a Bachelors Degree program with a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants must have completed at least 48 credit hours by May 19, 2025.

To be eligible for the Summer Intern Program, an individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours completed towards a qualifying bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by the posting date of the job.
