Location: Berkeley Lab, Energy Technology Area, EIEA division
Duration: Starting now for a year, with the possibility of extension and increase in hours
Commitment: Part-time (15- 20 hours/week ~50%)

Reports To: Stephane de la Rue du Can, Research Scientist at the Berkeley Lab
We are seeking a motivated and creative undergraduate student to support the communications and website management efforts for the Energy Efficiency for Development (EE4D) Program at the Berkeley Lab. This role will involve maintaining our website, promoting scientific international research, and assisting with design and communications tasks to increase public engagement. You will work closely with a senior researcher, receiving regular guidance and feedback while assisting with digital communications, web design, and science outreach tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Website Management: Regularly update and maintain the program’s websites to ensure that it accurately reflects ongoing research and other developments
• Content Creation: Draft and edit web content, blog posts, social media updates, and communications materials that highlight research and events with the researcher supervision
• Design Support: Assist in creating visual assets (graphics, banners, infographics, reports templates, factsheets, newsletters) as needed
• Social Media: Draft web content, blog posts, and social media updates, with guidance on messaging and tone
• Communications Support: Assist with the development and distribution of newsletters, formatting for reports, announcements, factsheets, and other communication materials that promote the program’s research and achievements.
Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate student in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Science Communications, or a related field.
• Some experience with website management (preferably WordPress, Google site and/or similar platforms).
• Passion for science and interest in communicating scientific research to the public.
• Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Good writing, editing, and proofreading skills, especially in translating scientific concepts into accessible language.
