Software Engineering Intern
Exiger Product has an opportunity for a summer student to join our Engineering team in our Mclean, VA office. This position is a term contract for 8 to 12 weeks, full time during regular business hours over the summer. The student will be paired with a mentor on the engineering team to assign work, facilitate knowledge transfer, and provide exposure to different parts of the business.
Exiger Product is an experienced team of software professionals with a wide range of specialties and interests. We make use of big data and natural language processing technologies as well as dealing with day-to-day application development and scaling issues. We utilize agile methodologies, iterate quickly to find solutions, and work together to ensure that the system evolves in a maintainable and performant fashion.
This is an internship opportunity located in Mclean, VA.
What You'll Do:
- Work with the development team through the entire software development life cycle, including planning, architecture, documentation, development, testing and deployment.
- Analyzing functions, procedures and problems to deliver creative, logical, and effective solutions that meets the specified requirements.
- Write efficient, scalable, reliable, readable and reusable code by using the best practices and coding principles.
- Design, code, debug, implement, and maintain new and existing applications.
- Maintain high standards of quality for code, documentation and deliverables.
- Stay up-to-date with technologies in order to provide the best solutions for your projects.
What You Need:
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements and priorities.
- Well developed problem solving skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt new skills and technologies.
- Ability to take responsibility for the quality of your work.
- Familiarity with Java, SQL, JavaScript frameworks, object oriented design theory and unit testing.
- Completion of some post-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering or similar; or demonstrable hands-on coding experience.
- Familiarity or experience with Machine Learning an asset.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Proven attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new concepts.
This is a HYBRID internship with weekly onsite requirements. The program will run from June 2, 2025, to August 8, 2025 (10 weeks).
The hourly compensation will be $25.00, based on a 40-hour work week.
