Arts Intern: Marketing & Social Media Intern
Background
Poster House, which opened its doors in 2019, is dedicated to presenting the impact, culture, and design of posters, both as historical documents and methods of contemporary visual communication.
As the first poster museum in the United States, Poster House provides a space for inquiry for all those interested in design, advertising, and public interventions, with an aim to improve design literacy among the general public.
Through temporary exhibitions, a growing permanent collection, and educational events, Poster House explores the enormous impact of posters on society and culture, and how they have been adapted to contemporary use.
Marketing & Social Media Intern Overview
The Marketing & Social Media Intern will assist the Marketing and Public Programs Departments by brainstorming video content, leading pre- and post-production, and implementing Poster House’s social media goals. The intern will also work closely with many of the museum departments to successfully highlight a number of the programming and general offerings the institution provides to the public.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organizing of promotional events and digital campaigns
- Assist in the development, planning, and launch of video and static content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social media platforms
- Strategize on opportunities to reach a young and diverse internet audience
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to develop monthly content calendars and launch schedules
- Stay up-to-date with online trends
- Identify potential content to engage with and reshare across social
- Be available to work in person for video content capture
- Attend training and professional development within the Marketing Department
- Provide administrative support as needed
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications
- A potential career in marketing, museum education, teen programming, arts education, arts administration, art history, or a related field
- Pitching video ideas and contributing to creativity
- Hands-on pre- and post-production experience in developing video content preferred
- Filming and editing video content natively in TikTok and Instagram
- Familiarity with major event marketing
- Organizational, project, and time management skills
- Comfortability within the entire Google Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Gmail)
- Comfortability within the Adobe suite (specifically Adobe Premiere or Adobe After Effects) is a plus
Compensation
$22.50 per hour
INTERNS WILL WORK 28 HOURS PER WEEK AND ATTEND A MANDATORY OFFSITE PROGRAM DAY ONE DAY PER WEEK WITH THEIR COHORT.
Internship Period: June 2 – August 4
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week; 10AM–6PM, hybrid position (varies week-to-week contingent on type of project)
PROGRAM DAY:
On Fridays, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
