JOB TITLE: Credit Department Intern STATUS: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Risk Management - Credit Administration
REPORTS TO: Credit Manager
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Support the credit team by assisting with the evaluation, assessment, and management of credit risk for potential and existing clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Enter tax returns and financial statements into Moody’s Lending Cloud.
• Provide general support to other members of the Credit Department
• Backup the Credit Associate when they are unavailable
• Assist in performing new loan audits
• Assist in financial statement tracking
• Exposure to the process of credit analysis, which includes:
• Prepare Committee Presentation Sheets for new and existing Commercial Credits
• Produce cash flows using Excel software
• Produce collateral charts using acceptable valuation methods and approved advance rates
• Spread financial statements using Moody's Lending Cloud
• Use Fiserv Navigator to itemize lending and deposit relationships of commercial loan customers
• State the customer’s compliance with financial statement reporting requirements
• State the customer’s compliance with financial covenants
• Record committee minutes for upper management reporting
• Run and analyze personal credit reports
• Prepare a "Credit Department Opinion" and review existing risk rating for committee presentations
• Order various forms of due diligence, including but not limited to: Real estate appraisals, equipment appraisals, collateral evaluations, and environmental reports
• Create and maintain a courteous and professional relationship with co-workers while maintaining timely and prompt daily attendance
• Other duties as directed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
• Good time management, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Understanding of basic concepts in the fields of Finance and Accounting.
• Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work independently
• Responsible for meeting timelines of production
• Loan administration experience a plus
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
• Minimum six credits in Accounting courses
• Enrolled in an undergraduate program, majoring in Finance, Accounting or Business
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
• Prior coursework in the following additional disciplines: Finance, Business, and Composition
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Office environment with little exposure to physical hazards or conditions
• Ability to enter data into a computer and work with computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
• Ability to reach with hands and fingers, touching computer buttons/adding machine buttons for extended periods of time
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary in order to meet deadlines.
